Orangeries - A design with a difference

Looking for an orangery that compliments your home’s architecture? Whether contemporary or traditional, an ERG orangery will blend seamlessly into your home design, adding natural light and space and all year round functionality by maximizing your properties surroundings.

Orangeries provide a slightly different take on the traditional conservatory style; having glazed sides and brick or wooden supports. Orangeries date from the 1500s, when Europeans collected citrus trees. Originally, a group of trees were known as orangeries and were located in the garden. With the advent of plant pots however, the trees could be brought indoors into special rooms designed for cultivating citrus trees in a cooler climate.

In the 21st century, it’s easy to transform a neglected, unattractive patio, deck or den into a cosy outdoor viewing getaway, providing additional space for entertaining, relaxation or children’s playroom. ERG design and install orangeries in Inverness and throughout Scotland; built to merge seamlessly with the original structure of your home.

Designed to your specifications, an orangery is adaptable to any house – serving as a natural extension to most existing roof designs, and by installing our bi-fold doors you can truly experience a taste of the outdoors, comfortable and secure, cool in summer and warm in winter. Make the most of your outdoor living experience whether hosting parties or enjoying a barbecue with friends — you will wonder how you ever lived without one.

Having difficulty deciding between a conservatory and an orangery? Let ERG, orangery suppliers in Inverness, Highlands & Islands help you out. An orangery is the perfect balance between an extended room and a conservatory, while a conservatory is a more traditional glazed extension including a glass roof and windows. An orangery is a modern alternative consisting of a partial solid ceiling but still with a glazed roof, giving you the feeling of a more enclosed space while still enjoying much more natural light.
